October Holiday list

Happy October! The holiday season has officially begun and I couldn't be happier.

I have a HUGE crush on traditions. I love knowing there are some parts of my life I can always look forward to and share with my favorite people. I have so many things planned for this month and I thought I'd share them with you! Some things on the list have become traditions with Ian and I, and some are things I've never done but can't wait to.

October holiday to-do list

-Carve pumpkins and drink Risque. Last year I probably drank too much Riqsue and dropped my wine glass on the floor, oooops. I don't want to make that part a tradition.

[X]-Make pumpkin muffins. I have the best recipe for pumpkin muffins with brown butter glaze...can't wait to make them again!

[X]-Make ghost tortilla chips. I made these last year and they were stupid fun to eat.

-Have a Halloween themed cookie making party with our friends. Cookie making party, is that dorky? I don't care. With royal icing and lots of sprinkles!

[X]-Go to Apple Hill and drink/eat everything apple...apple donuts, apple fritters, apple cider, apple wine, etc., etc...I've been going to Apple Hill with my family for as long as I can remember...it's one of my favorite places ever. I took Ian for the first time last year and he was obsessed...literally all year he's been talking about going back.

[X]-Pick apples! I have no idea where to do this in Southern California but I'll find out.

[X]-Go wine tasting with my family. Going to college in Sonoma has made me a crazy wine lover, and nothing in the world is as pretty as Sonoma in the fall...the vineyards turning colors are absolutely breathtaking.

[XRide on the Great Park Balloon. I've never done this and I've lived in Orange County for almost two years, so it's probably time it happened. They paint a jack-o'-lantern face on it during October...do I really need to say anything else?

-Make a pumpkin pie from scratch. Last year I made a really really good pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving, but I want to go one step further (and like a billion calories lighter) and try to make a pie all by myself. [Update: I might change this to an apple pie thanks to our apple picking bounty!]

So that's my list! I'll definitely update you on the progress. What are your holiday plans/traditions?
